Job Summary

Maintains service operations by inspecting and maintaining vehicles.

Wage Compensation

Wage will be determined off of previous work experience and will be discussed throughout the hiring process.

Essential Functions: 

  1. Keeps equipment available for use by inspecting and testing vehicles; completing preventive maintenance such as engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotation and changes, wheel balancing, replacing filters, flushing and replacing fluids, and replacing brakes.
  2. Maintains vehicle functional condition by listening to operator complaints; conducting inspections; repairing engine failures; repairing mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions; replacing parts and components.
  3. Verifies vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems.
  4. Work with manager and other mechanics to diagnose and repair the mechanical and electrical components of vehicles.
  5. Listening to clients to learn more about vehicle history, potential problems, and the services they would like to receive.
  6. Performing test drives, inspections, and other diagnostic tests on vehicles to identify where problems exist and determine which parts need to be repaired or replaced.
  7. Completing preventative maintenance on vehicles, such as performing oil changes, flushing and replacing fluids, and replacing brakes.
  8. Inspecting internal systems and controls to ensure the vehicle is operating properly and in compliance with state regulations.
  9. Using shop equipment as instructed, performing regular maintenance and repairs as needed.
  10. Engaging in learning opportunities to update job knowledge and technical skills.

Job Context

Physical Demands

  1. Being able to lift 50 pounds.
  2. Physically able to drive.
  3. Have a current class “E” license and be insurable

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Education – High School Diploma or Equivalent
  2. Additional education, certifications, or experience is generally preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. State Inspector license or desire to obtain one
  2. Ability to drive a tow truck
  3. Learn to drive a plow truck
